Algeria plans to cut its imports by 10 to 15 billion dollars by 2017, Algerian Minister of Housing, Urbanism,
“The government will seek to reduce the import bill, which reached 56 billion dollars in 2015 and decreased to 46.7 billion dollars in 2016, and will make the value of imports reach,” Tibon said at a press conference on the sidelines of the exhibition “Developing and Encouraging National Production” which will be held on April 15-17. In this regard, the minister stressed the need to develop small and medium enterprises, which are “an important factor” to push the national economy and create jobs.
Concerning the import of consumer goods, which weighs heavily on the trade balance, the minister called for the consumption of the Algerian product.
