British authorities evacuated a cricket stadium in London on Thursday after an arrow was launched from a bow to land on a pitch during a match.
A BBC correspondent at the scene said the authorities had asked some 2,500 spectators to take cover and armed elements arrived from the police shortly after.
Police said they had received no reports of injuries and that the incident was not being dealt with as a terrorist attack at the current stage. The police are on alert after a series of attacks by militants in the country.
A picture broadcast by British media showed the referee holding the game while the match between the Syrian and Middlesex cricket teams was suspended.
“At this early stage it is believed that (the arrow) came from outside the stadium,” London Metropolitan Police said in a statement.
