spokesman for the Myanmar presidency confirmed Wednesday that there are 176 villages of Rohingya Muslims, now completely empty after the escape of all its inhabitants, according to the Associated Press.
A senior UN official said Wednesday that aid agencies should “vigorously” strengthen their operations after some 400,000 refugees have arrived in Bangladesh to escape violence in Myanmar.
The funds needed to assist these refugees had increased considerably.
The flow of Muslim Rohingya began on Bangladesh on Aug. 25 after rebels attacked about 30 police posts and an army camp. The attacks prompted the security forces to launch a large-scale military offensive
