A Michigan man who’d been discharged from prison on $100,000 bond when awaiting trial on rape fees murdered the 16-year-old girl, who’d previously been expected to testify contrary to him the government said Wednesday.
The teenager, Mujey Dumbuya, also a senior school pupil from Grand Rapids, Mich., was to testify that month at the demo of the man, Quinn Anthony James, who is in his early 40s. But she moved lost January and was afterwards detected dead about 50 miles from her home.
Along with pre meditated first degree murder, ” Mr. James is also charged with kidnapping and conspiracy, ” explained Christopher Becker, the prosecuting lawyer for Kent County.
Prosecutors have also charged another man, Gerald Bennett, using only one count of conspiracy, ” Mr. Becker said. They say Mr. Bennett, of Detroit, obtained a vehicle from Mr. James as charge for assisting with all the murder and also possibly the Entry of Mujey’s body.
At an announcement of probable origin made public on Wednesday, prosecutors say forensic testing “ties James into the victim’s apparel. ” They also allege that Mr. James “lied to investigators on his whereabouts on the afternoon that the victim was shot and murdered. ”
Prosecutors also say they will have records placing Mr. James near Mujey’so bus and home halt the night before she went lost. Court documents revealed that Mr. James sexually assaulted Mujey at Ridge Park Charter Academy, a charter faculty from Kentwood, Mich., last July. Mujey attended East Kentwood High School, about eight miles out of Ridge Park.
Mr. James was employed as a grounds and preservation team associate together with Kentwood Public educational institutions — that East Kentwood large can be aspect — before late last calendar year, the district’s superintendent has mentioned.
