At the close in Sao Paulo, the gained 1.00%.

The best performers of the session on the were Bradespar SA (SA:), which rose 4.60% or 1.42 points to trade at 32.32 at the close. Meanwhile, Raia Drogasil SA (SA:) added 4.07% or 3.01 points to end at 76.96 and Hypermarcas SA (SA:) was up 3.93% or 1.05 points to 27.75 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:), which fell 3.48% or 0.53 points to trade at 14.71 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:) declined 2.94% or 0.53 points to end at 17.51 and B2W Cia Digital (SA:) was down 1.96% or 0.48 points to 24.00.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 218 to 202 and 39 ended unchanged.

The , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.07% to 54.43.

Gold Futures for December delivery was down 0.75% or 9.10 to $1199.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 0.51% or 0.35 to hit $68.94 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.80% or 0.80 to trade at $99.80 .

USD/BRL was down 1.00% to 4.1657, while EUR/BRL fell 1.52% to 4.8440.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 94.93.
