Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the gained 1.99% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:), which rose 8.63% or 0.65 points to trade at 8.18 at the close. Meanwhile, Magazine Luiza SA (SA:) added 7.55% or 8.65 points to end at 123.16 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:) was up 5.81% or 0.44 points to 8.01 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Hypermarcas SA (SA:), which fell 2.47% or 0.69 points to trade at 27.25 at the close. Braskem SA (SA:) declined 2.14% or 1.15 points to end at 52.53 and Qualicorp SA (SA:) was down 1.40% or 0.28 points to 19.67.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the BM&FBovespa Stock Exchange by 282 to 133 and 42 ended unchanged.
The , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.49% to 32.54.
Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.22% or 2.70 to $1247.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.06% or 0.04 to hit $70.34 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.28% or 0.31 to trade at $111.72 .
USD/BRL was up 0.18% to 3.8842, while EUR/BRL rose 0.18% to 4.5336.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 94.56.
