China has lodged diplomatic protest with North Korea over the nuclear test

China’s Foreign Ministry said on Monday it had lodged official protests with the North Korean Embassy in Beijing over Pyongyang’s sixth and strongest nuclear test.

China’s position on North Korea’s nuclear tests is clear to Pyongyang, said ministry spokesman Qeng Shuang, adding that Beijing is sticking to the fact that the talks are the way to solve the Korean Peninsula issue.

Pyongyang said it had tested an advanced hydrogen bomb designed for a long-range missile on Sunday, prompting the United States to prepare a “massive” military response if Washington or its allies were threatened.
