LENEXA, Kan. — Neighbors in Old Town Lenexa will soon no longer hear the blaring sound of trains passing by. 

The town council approved $350,000 to put in a wayside horn method. 

Right now, trains utilize the horns on the locomotives any time they cross the intersections. Wayside horns, but are static horns mounted in a railway crossing. The device cautions drivers by throwing noise farther down the roadway instead of down the trail.
