Germany announces arrest of two citizens in Turkey for political reasons

The German Foreign Ministry on Friday condemned the arrest of two of its citizens for political reasons in Turkey, bringing to 12 the number of Germans considered by Berlin as political prisoners in the country.

“On Aug. 31, two German nationals were arrested for political reasons,” ministry spokeswoman Maria Adibar said. “The general consulate in Izmir has been informed of the arrests by unofficial sources and the Antalya police, who then confirmed them.”
