Lavrov: The United States is unable to put a clear position on the Palestinian issue

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the inability of the United States to present a clear position on the Palestinian issue is hampering the Middle East settlement.

Lavrov said in remarks broadcast by the channel “Russia Today” on Sunday, while in Saudi Arabia, that the White House, has not yet crystallized his position on the issue, although his Special Envoy made 20 visits to the territory of Palestine.

He added that the main reason for the slowdown of the Middle East settlement is the division among the Palestinians, warning that the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip is worsening as a result.

He pointed out that Russia, in coordination with some Arab countries, is working in close contact with Fatah and Hamas, to persuade them to return to the reconciliation agreement, which was reached on the formation of a unified administration in Ramallah and the organization of parliamentary and presidential elections.
