The Building Materials Chamber of the Federation of Industries, headed by Ahmed Abdel Hamid, and the Lebanese and Granite Marble & Granite Industries Association, headed by Nazia Nicola Najm, signed a cooperation agreement today on the sidelines of the Egyptian-Lebanese Business Forum on Wednesday.
The agreement includes the agreement to overcome the obstacles of intra-Egyptian trade especially in the building materials sector and to seek to limit the process of exporting and importing granite and marble to the Egyptian and Lebanese factories, especially with the issuance of a decision by the Lebanese Ministry of Industry to stop importing marble and granite from around the world for a period of 6 months, To protect the Lebanese marble industry.
The agreement includes measures to stimulate Egyptian and Lebanese exports and aims at developing trade relations between the two sides, expanding trade and industry between them, seeking to overcome all obstacles facing the industry and opening up new markets in Africa with the assistance of the Lebanese side by working together to activate the initiative “Egypt and Lebanon” For Africa “and to participate in the reconstruction of the two brotherly states of Iraq and Syria, and to create a climate to remove any obstacles that may arise in the framework of industrial trade between the two parties
The agreement requires each party to implement import, export and monetary requirements in both countries. The Lebanese side sought to restrict the export or import of granite to Egyptian and Lebanese factories.
