Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos has hailed Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo’s impressive contribution to a 3-0 win over Apoll Nicosia in the first round of the Champions League.
Ronaldo managed to score the first and second goals of Real Madrid, before Ramos scored the third goal in a distinctive way, from a double double-bottomed shot to give the Real the first 3 points in the defense of the European title crowned last season at the expense of Juventus.
“Cristiano Ronaldo was brilliant today and he was doing better than everyone,” Ramos said after the match. “When he does well, the whole team has a great performance. It’s very important for us.”
“I always like to take part in the attack to surprise opponents because they know I have to be in the back,” said Ramos. “A goal from a scissor shot is a very cool thing.”
