Russian American crew arrives at the International Space Station

US astronauts and a Russian cosmonaut arrived at the International Space Station on Wednesday, about six hours after the launch of their Soyuz vehicle from Kazakhstan, NASA television showed.

Alexander Mysorkin of the Russian Space Agency (Roskosmos), flight engineers Mark Vand Hay and Joe Akaba of NASA flew from the Baikonur Space Center at 3:17 am local time on Wednesday (2117 GMT Tuesday). The vehicle arrived at 0855 hours.

The team began a five-month mission at the station, which is about 400 kilometers above the planet.
