Russia’s sanctions enforcement agency was detained for corruption

Russian Vice-President of the Russian Federation for the Enforcement of Sanctions (UJC) Oleg Korshanov has been detained by the Russian authorities for investigation in a corruption case.

“Kornonov was arrested and placed in the investigation,” Deputy Director of the Russian Social Control Committee Yva Merkachova said in a press release on Wednesday.

The official spokeswoman of the Russian Federal Investigation Office, Svetlana Petrenko, confirmed the detention and said an investigation had been opened under section 4 of article 160 on charges of “widespread embezzlement by exploiting his official position.”
