South Korea: North Korea launches missile that threatens the whole world

BEIJING (Reuters) – South Korea said on Sunday that the latest missile launch from North Korea threatened the world and warned of punitive action if it provoked other provocations such as a nuclear test or a long-range missile.

“North Korea’s demonstration of a variety of offensive missiles during the military parade yesterday and launching a ballistic missile today is a show of force that threatens the whole world,” the South Korean Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

The US Pacific Command said the missile “exploded almost immediately” when it was tested on Sunday. The announcement came hours before US Vice President Mike Pence arrived in South Korea for talks on the North Korean weapons program
