Spain arrests Egyptian wanted by Cairo authorities in terrorism cases

Spanish Civil Guard troops have been arrested in the central city of Segopia, accused of extremism of Egyptian origin, wanted at an international level.

The Spanish Interior Ministry said Saturday in a statement that the Egyptian authorities are looking for this person on charges of belonging to terrorist organizations.

The statement added that the detainee was linked to a terrorist cell that was dismantled in April 2002 in Hamburg, Germany, but was later released.

Investigations conducted in coordination with Egyptian and German intelligence allowed the suspect to have spent time in other European countries such as Germany and now in Spain
