Trump: China may have penetrated email Democrats in the 2016 election

US President Donald Trump said China may have infiltrated e-mail messages for Democratic Party officials to intervene in the presidential election in 2016, in contradiction to the view of intelligence officials who said Moscow had orchestrated it.

In the transcript of Sunday’s interview, Trump did not provide evidence to support his claim, which he spoke for the first time on the eve of the November 8 election, when he said China may have pierced the e-mail messages of his rivals.

“If you can not catch the hacker while you’re doing it, it’s very hard to say who penetrated, maybe China and maybe many different groups,” Trump said on CBS’s CBS TV program.
