White House: Trump agrees to release emergency federal aid to Florida

US President Donald Trump on Sunday declared a state of emergency in Florida, in a move that allows the southern state, which began the typhoon Erma, to invade with additional federal aid, the White House announced.

In a statement, the US presidency said federal funding that would benefit from the mandate included “grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low interest loans to cover unsecured real estate losses, and other programs to help individuals and institutional owners recover from the disaster.”
